Chapter 16

Restoring Dignity

While Juma struggled with the consequences of his family’s collapse and Zahara served her sentence, Amina turned her energy toward something else—building a legacy that would remain after revenge had ended.

She stood before a twenty-storey building in central Nairobi.

For years it had been known as *Mfanyakazi Towers*. Now it had undergone a complete transformation.

The exterior had been repainted in calm modern tones, the glass frontage replaced, and the Mfanyakazi emblem removed.

Dressed in a white suit, Amina stood before a red ribbon. Beside her were representatives of the county government, leaders from the creative industries, and Sofia carrying the opening documents.

“Ladies and gentlemen,” Amina said to the journalists and the crowd gathered outside, “for many years, this building represented self-interest, greed, and corruption.

From today onward, it will stand for something different.”

She cut the ribbon. A large black curtain fell away from the building’s new sign.

The crowd applauded as the name appeared:

**ZURI ACADEMY OF DESIGN AND THE ARTS**

“This building will become an institute of fashion design and the arts for young Africans,” Amina said.

“We are also establishing the ten-million-dollar Mariam Khalid Memorial Fund.

It will provide full scholarships to orphaned girls and young people from families that cannot afford tuition.

Talent should not die because someone lacks a famous name or the money to study.”

A county representative shook her hand.

“You have transformed a building that once symbolised one company into a place of opportunity for thousands of young people.

That is what will be remembered.”

Amina smiled.

“Africa is home.

This is where my roots are.

I first needed the power to protect people who had none.

Now I have that power.”

After the ceremony, Amina entered her new office. It had once belonged to Mr Mfanyakazi, but fresh flowers and original artwork now filled the space.

Kaleb stepped inside.

“Boss, everything went according to plan. The academy has registered its first five hundred students.”

“Thank you, Kaleb.” Amina looked through the window at Nairobi.

The chapter of revenge had closed.

The work of building had begun.

For the first time, she felt completely free.

The identity of “the poor girl everyone despised” no longer held power over her.

She lifted a cup of coffee and smiled to herself.

Her new life was waiting.
